All international students participate in an orientation to learn about the city, the school, and develop self-management skills. The fun and engaging activities help students understand how to stay safe, connect with others, and navigate their new environment, fostering a sense of belonging both at school and within the community.

Orientation Goals

  • meet a buddy and a friend
  • take part in a Pōhiri a traditional Māori welcome
  • learn about our support staff and students
  • get connected: Wi-Fi, Sim Card, school devices
  • transport: learn about the snapper travel card, buses and trains
  • understand NZ bank cards and making purchases
  • living in homestay advice and guidance
  • English and Math level testing for the International Learner
  • learn all about subjects and NCEA
  • learn about how people migrated to New Zealand
