WC Parents’ Association (WCP)

The Wellington College Parents’ Association is a great way to support students and staff, while enhancing your own experience at Wellington College.

WCP is a group of enthusiastic volunteers who organise a range of events to foster a sense of school community and to connect families to each other and to the school.

The Wellington College Foundation is presently undertaking a professional review of all the groups within the organisation to ensure there is a coordinated approach and connectivity between the school volunteer organisations.

The activities of WCP in the last few years were limited due to Covid-19 restrictions. However, with the pandemic behind us, the time to rebuild a parent group is now. Whilst the structure of WCP may change the need for volunteers will not – so we encourage existing and new whanau to get involved.

  • Staff Liaison – Patrick Smith, Deputy Principal

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist organise a range of events to foster a sense of school community and to connect families to each other and to the school. Our mission is to build on the experience of students, families and staff at Wellington College and we hope you will join us!

The objective for 2023, as we rebuild, is to organise a Year 9 student/whanau welcome early in 2023, a Grandparent Day later in the year, as well as a few connection events. These will involve parents of specific year levels being invited to join us at school to discuss a particular issue of interest to which outside speakers are often invited. Topics range from NCEA to University Entrance to teenage issues. These events provide an opportunity for parents to meet other parents in the same year level as their son(s) while gaining valuable insight from experts and experienced parents.
