Leadership, service and adventure!

For over 30 years, World Challenge has enabled transformative travel experiences around the globe. These expeditions compliment school learning, giving students the opportunity to become true life-learners and global citizens.

Earlier this year, a group of Wellington College students travelled to Borneo with World Challenge. The expedition was a huge success. Students trekked through the jungle, worked alongside local communities on service projects, and challenged themselves physically and mentally in an environment far from home. Many described it as life-changing, building resilience, leadership, and friendships that will last a lifetime. Follow the instagram page @wcborneo2025 to see more.

In collaboration with World Challenge, Wellington College is excited to announce our next expedition opportunity: Nepal 2026!

Running over three weeks in December 2026 (after senior exams), this adventure promises a unique combination of:

• Exploring Kathmandu

• Contributing to a rural community development project

• Immersing in the culture of Pokhara

• Trekking in the Himalayas – with options including the Langtang Valley or Annapurna Circuit

This student-led expedition will focus on building confidence, independence, and resilience. Students will take responsibility for budgeting, transport, meals, activities, and communicating with locals, skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

We warmly invite all interested students and their whānau to an online information evening on Tuesday 16th September, 6.00pm (Week 10). This 45-minute session will be led by World Challenge facilitator Troy Greenem, alongside Wellington College staff Katie Thompson and Petra Malcolm. Together, we’ll share the itinerary, discuss trekking options, and answer your questions. Open to students in years 10-12 (2025).

👉 Please RSVP by registering for the Zoom call on this webpage:

The estimated cost is $12,000 (to be confirmed at the information evening). Parents may wish to encourage their child to contribute through fundraising or part-time work in anticipation.

This promises to be an unforgettable experience, and we look forward to sharing more with you soon!
