Every year we organise the Year 10 students to go out into the community and volunteer 3-4 hours of their time to help in the various charities and institutions within the Wellington region. We hope that this day will encourage the students to give their time in the future and show them the benefits of volunteering.
This year the Volunteer Day is set down for Wednesday the 15th of November.
Students will be supervised by our teaching staff at all times and transported to the place where they will be volunteering. In the past they have been involved in a range of activities such as baking, soup making, gardening, track clearing, spending time with the elderly, collecting for charities, cleaning, painting, packaging food in food banks, sorting donated clothing, making rat traps and beach clean ups to name just a few.
If you think your institution or charity could make use of a small or large group of Year 10 students, and our supporting staff members, on this day we would love to hear from you. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the name of the place you would like the students to work, the number of students, the best person to contact, and their contact details.
