Update on our recent Teacher Only Day
November 17, 2023
The focus of our Teacher Only Day was planning and preparation for changes to the learning programme in 2024. In response to the NZ Curriculum Refresh, and changes to NCEA, we are implementing a new Learning Progressions Framework for Year 9-11. This phase of learning is pivotal to a young person’s education as they are introduced to a range of subjects and the development of more advanced thinking skills, including a focus on literacy and numeracy, and Mātauranga Māori.
On Tuesday, teachers were immersed in focused collaborative work in preparation for delivering our new framework and ensuring that the programmes of learning are rigorous and relevant. We look forward to sharing this mahi with parents of Years 9 and 10 at the upcoming parents’ information evening in Week 8.
We appreciate the support of parents and whānau as we use these days to plan for curriculum change. We know it is going to have a significant and positive impact on the experience and outcomes of our young people.
