Tū Tamatoa Wānanga
March 27, 2026

Ko te manako e haere pai ana koutou i te ahuatanga o te wā uaua.
Next Monday, the 30th of March, we are hosting our annual Tū Tamatoa Wānanga at WC. This day is an opportunity for our ākonga Māori to connect with each other and their taha Māori, we also havetangata tiriti and tangata moana that also tautoko the rōpū. We do apologise for the lateness of this pānui, but many moving parts and clashes, changes and cancelling of other kaupapa have led us here.
The day is led by ākonga, however, kaiako of Tari Māori will be there in support. If you feel like your tama needs to stay in class this day, kei te pai, we understand it is hard to get the balance with so many opportunities. We always put emphasis on their achievement and attainment first.
Please fill out the permission slip if you would like your tama to attend: https://forms.gle/iYM31hmjjhVzpwn66
NOTE : If your tama is Māori, you should’ve already received an email about this. If you did not, please contact reception with your tama’s name and iwi. I have noticed that some of our ākonga Māori are not acknowledged as so on our system.
About TŪ TAMATOA
Tū Tamatoa are our rōpū for ākonga Māori, tangata tiriti, and tangata moana.
Last year, the tuākana of the student led rōpū created this vision statement:
Our vision for students at WC is that they receive the light and pass it on.
Within that, our vision for Tū Tamatoa is to uphold the mana of Te Ao Māori within the school and beyond.
We will do this by creating a safe and supportive environment where all ākonga can learn about who they are and where they are from.
