Scholarship Success

February 10, 2026

We are delighted to share our 2025 New Zealand Scholarship results.

NZQA Scholarship is a national award that recognises students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance beyond NCEA Level 3. It is designed for very high-achieving students and acknowledges deep understanding, critical thinking and the ability to apply knowledge at an advanced level.

Our students secured an impressive total of 127 scholarships, with 12 of those awarded at the Outstanding level. These awards were earned by 65 students across 16 subjects, reflecting both exceptional performance and a remarkable breadth of achievement.

Some particularly notable achievements include:

  • Thomas Dean who was the top scholar in New Zealand for History, and gained 3 Scholarships as a Year 11 student.

  • Benji Mason (4 Scholarships, 3 of which were Outstanding, as a Year 11 student)

  • Co-Duxes Neil Tonpay and Snehal Maram (both Year 13) gained 7 Scholarships each.

  • Owen Fan (Year 12) and Ammar Bilal (Year 13) 6 Scholarships each.

We are immensely proud of all our Scholarship candidates and sincerely thank our dedicated teachers for the commitment, expertise and care they bring to this mahi. An enormous congratulations to Assistant LAL Mathematics Cushla Thomson, whose students gained a phenomenal 31 Scholarships in Calculus.

In addition to our own students, many students from schools across the region attend Scholarship sessions at WC, and we are proud that so many of these learners were successful. We strongly value the opportunity to share our expertise, resources and teaching capability, and see this collaboration as an important way to strengthen outcomes for students across our wider education community.

Tino pai rawa!
