Runathon Wrap Up
March 20, 2026

Kia ora WC whānau,
Thank you! Runathon 2026 was last Friday, and thanks to all of you, it was something pretty special.
From the damp early morning laps, through a lively midday of people, food and a bit of sun, to food trucks with a breezy drizzle to finish, the WC community showed up strong (even as Wellington delivered four seasons in one day).
🚑 FUNDRAISING UPDATE
We’ve raised over $80,000 so far, with every dollar being matched (up to $150,000) bringing our current total to over $160,000.
Remember: every dollar is still being matched, so the impact of your donation is doubled.
If you haven’t donated yet (or you can find someone else to sponsor you), now’s the perfect time to push us closer to funding a brand new ambulance.

🏃 THE NUMBERS
12,411 laps completed which is over 6,800km! That’s like running from Wellington to Auckland more than 5 times or the distance covered by Wellington Free Ambulance’s fleet every day!
Special mention to the lap runner podium:
Tom Pescini – 181 laps (that’s 100km!)
Henry Tripe – 163 laps
Hudson Todd – 161 laps
You can view the full leaderboard for laps and donations at any time here 👉https://app.therunathon.com/
🍔 COMMERCE STALLS & MIDDAY FUN
It was all go in the middle of the day as the sun came out and the students came with it. Our Year 11 Commerce stalls kept everyone fed and set a new record, raising over $5,800!
There was ClubFest on the turf, live music hyping everyone up, and then there was the carnival – which importantly included a dunk tank where students could pay to see teachers (and some fellow ākonga) dunked.
🎖 AWARDS & PRIZES
To celebrate the effort across the school:
-
🥇 Top donor and top lap runner in each year group will receive a Runathon Contributor badge
-
All GOATs will receive a GOAT badge
-
Our top event volunteers (approx. 20–25 students) will also receive a Runathon Contributor badge
These will be presented in an upcoming assembly, so get your donations in now to push yourself up the leaderboards!
Also, in an upcoming assembly there will be prizes drawn that include a brand new Samsung phone. Every golden ticket is an entry: 1 lap = 1 golden ticket, and $1 donated = 2 golden tickets.
