NZQA examinations – important information for candidates
October 31, 2025

NZQA examinations begin on Tuesday 4th November.
Exam candidates have attended an information assembly, and received a candidate information sheet. The presentation and information sheet are both attached below.
Key points in the presentation include:
-
Students must bring their exam slip to every examination. It cannot be written on or highlighted. If they require a new one, they must see the school office well in advance of the exam as copies must be signed by the Principal’s Nominee.
-
What they should and should not bring to each exam
-
Arrival times (candidates will not be admitted to the exam if they are more than half an hour late)
-
How to find their exam room. Most exams are in AGC, Theatre or Languages Centre – the rooming for the week is attached below.
If there is an emergency on the morning of the exam, contact the school office as soon as possible.
Applying for derived grades
Where there is a significant event beyond a student’s control, resulting in impaired performance or causing them to miss an exam, students may be eligible for a derived grade. Contact Luci Lendrum (DP and NZQA Principal’s Nominee) who can advise about next steps in making an application.
Scholarship Exams
A reminder that students must bring photo ID to scholarship exams.
Y9-11 students sitting exams
Younger students sitting NCEA Level 2 and 2 exams have had their attendance coded for the day of the exam, as well as half a day prior for study leave (either the morning or afternoon prior to their exam). Please just let the office know if there have been errors in this attendance.
Y9-11 Scholarship candidates are asked to contact the office to confirm their attendance prior to the exam.
