NCEA Co-Requisite CAAs (Tues, Wed, Thurs, 26 – 28 May)

May 22, 2026

Some students are attempting or reattempting their Co-Requisite CAAs (Common Assessment Activities) for Reading, Writing and/or Numeracy next week.

Writing CAA – arrangements for Year 11 students

Year 11 students will be sitting their Writing assessment on Tuesday 26 May in either period 1 or period 4. This will be their first opportunity to complete the full Co-Requisite qualification. When not in a CAA, Year 11 students will be in normal classes.

Year 11-13 students reattempting their Reading, Writing or Numeracy CAA

Some students in Years 11-13 will be reattempting a test they did not pass last year. This could be Reading, Writing, and/or Numeracy. If this is your young person, you will receive an email to confirm. For the majority of students, these tests will run on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 May.

All students who are due to sit one of these assessments should now have a schedule of when and where their CAA(s) are. If anyone is uncertain about this, they need to see Miss Vreeburg or Ms Lendrum.

There is no study leave. All year levels will attend their normal classes during the testing period and will excuse themself from their lessons if they have a Literacy or Numeracy CAA scheduled. Attendance will be taken in the examination halls.

What if I don’t have a device or my device isn’t working properly?

Students with insufficient/faulty devices are to turn up to their scheduled CAA venue and will be issued with a loan device on the day.

When are the Numeracy and Reading assessments for Year 10 students?

Year 10 students will be attempting the Reading and Numeracy tests in September. We will provide more information closer to the time.

How long does the test take?

Students must stay in the test for at least one hour, but there is no time limit — they can take as long as they need. The tests are designed to take one hour to complete.

What to Bring:

  • Charged device (essential for the online test)

  • Exam slip (issued in tutor time and via email)

  • Water bottle

  • Headphones (recommended for students using text-to-speech. Wired headphones are preferable but not essential.)

  • Calculator (for Numeracy test only)

  • Pen (for working out and planning on paper)

  • a book (to read silently if you finish the test early)

Additional preparation resources and information is available on our website and you can find examples of what each of the tests look like via this link: Wellington College Co-Requisites.
