Oshi Srikaew, Year 11

Year 11 International Student Oshi Srikaew has already made a wonderful impression on the Wellington College community this year through his positive attitude, friendly nature, and involvement in sport.

Originally from Thailand, Oshi decided to study in New Zealand after hearing positive experiences from a friend who had previously studied here. Since arriving at Wellington College, he has embraced school life and become a valued member of both our international and domestic student communities.

He currently lives with a long term Wellington College homestay family in Lyall Bay and has quickly settled into Wellington life. Oshi enjoys spending time with friends, getting outdoors on weekends, and making the most of new experiences. He also has a unique interest in animals and has two pet snakes and a spider back home in Thailand.

Outside of school, Oshi is an accomplished cable wakeboarder and is currently ranked 3rd in Thailand – a very impressive feat in a country with 71.5 million people! Oshi will compete in the upcoming UNLEASH26 competition at Singapore Wake Park on 20 June 2026. The event attracts many of the top young riders from across Asia and is one of the region’s premier cable wakeboarding competitions.

Cable wakeboarding is hugely popular throughout Southeast Asia, particularly in Singapore and Thailand, where warm conditions and world class cable parks have helped develop a strong youth wakeboarding culture.

Oshi is to explore Wellington’s local watersport culture by learning kitesurfing at Lyall Bay.

We wish Oshi all the very best for UNLEASH26 and look forward to following his sporting journey.
