September 15, 2023

The inaugural Grandparents’ Morning at Wellington College was a resounding success

250 attendees, including 150 grandparents, gathered on Wednesday morning to celebrate the vital role grandparents play in the lives of their grandsons. The event featured inspirational speeches, a school tour led by grandsons, and a delightful morning tea, leaving everyone with great memories.

The day commenced with a stirring speech by Sam Elkin, the deputy prefect, who welcomed all the attendees and set a positive tone for the event. Following this, our Headmaster, Glen Denham, addressed the audience. His speech centered on the pivotal role grandparents play in the lives of their grandsons. Mr Denham stressed the importance of maintaining strong relationships, spending quality time together, and encouraged grandparents to visit school anytime for cup of tea and a chat.

A highlight of the morning was the guided tour of the school, where grandsons took the lead in showing their grandparents the college’s facilities and classrooms. The tour culminated in a visit to the AGC, where attendees enjoyed morning tea, sharing stories and bonding over refreshments.

Due to its immense success, Grandparents’ Morning will now become an annual tradition at Wellington College, ensuring that the cherished bond between grandparents and grandsons is celebrated and strengthened for years to come.
