The McEvedy Shield has long been regarded as one of the most iconic events in the Wellington secondary schools’ sporting calendar. First held in 1922, The McEvedy Shield athletics competition is now held annually between Wellington College, Rongotai College, St Patrick’s (Town) and St Patrick’s (Silverstream). This year, as always, the competition was intense, but Wellington College performed superbly throughout the different age-grades to regain the shield from St Patrick’s (Town). The team and coaches are to be congratulated on a mighty performance which sets the standard for other sporting competition throughout the year.
