The Careers, Transition and Tourism Department is located in the Student Services Centre, and a wide range of career information is displayed in this major thoroughfare and is freely accessed by students and staff alike.
The aim of the Department is to assist all students as they make the transition from secondary school into all areas of tertiary education, a career or into making other choices which will affect their later lives. The Department does this by providing a wide range of resources, activities and courses which will facilitate this transition. The courses provided by the Department are practical and assessed against standards on the National Qualifications Framework.
The Department provides assistance with curriculum vitae, job skills and networking, work experience, driver education, careers advice and planning, career databases and software, Star courses and career seminars. In addition, speakers are brought in to give presentations to students in class and at assemblies about career options, tertiary training, student job search and finance. In the past, tertiary institutes, employers, industry organisations, the Armed Forces and past students now in employment have greatly assisted those who have attended these seminars and presentations.
